Mark Johnson is a fifth-generation Arkansan who grew up in rural Faulkner County, and attended Conway High School and Hendrix College. After college, he joined the staff of then-Congressman Wilbur Mills in Washington, D.C. There, he met and married his wife, Catherine. He later worked for the Small Business Administration and returned to Arkansas to serve as Director of Community Development for the City of North Little Rock, and later served in the Cabinet of Governor Frank White as the Director of the Department of Local Services. Following his government service, Mark began a career as an advisor to businesses, cities, and counties in Arkansas on economic development matters.
Mark and Catherine have two grown daughters, Allison and Andrea, and live in the Ferndale community of west Pulaski County. Mark is a Rotarian, has been active in Republican politics for over 35 years, and is the Past President of the Arkansas Republican County Chairmen’s Association.
